McGraw wrote that Hill was a woman who was "glowing in my eyes," expanding his heart and giving him all the love she had. He also reflected on qualities that he said continue to leave him amazed. "I was and still am bewildered by her capacity to love, forgive, nurture and be full of joy and laughter," McGraw wrote.

He called Hill "a gift to the world," but then made the sentiment much more personal. He wrote that, for him and their family, they get "Her, all of her." McGraw also said that he and his daughters know exactly who belongs to them, before attempting to explain the enormous place Hill occupies in their lives.

"It's difficult to describe what she means," he wrote, calling Hill "the center of gravity to my life and our girls' lives and anyone who knows Audrey Faith McGraw." But McGraw was not finished. The next part of the message became a direct declaration of what Hill is to him after 30 years of marriage:

"I love you, baby. You are my best friend. My lover. My wife. My shelter in any and every storm. And the sunrise afterwards."
