The Best Eyebrow Shape for Your Face, According to Experts
Your eyebrows can make or break your whole look. Experts share which shapes work best for different face types, so you can find the one that suits you.
Finding your ideal eyebrow shape starts with understanding your face shape, according to celebrity brow stylist Melanie Marris. "As a general rule, 99.9 percent of faces will look complementary with a soft angled eyebrow," she says, though several other shapes can work well too, depending on your features.

If you have an oval or elongated face shape, straight brows, like Natalie Portman's, are ideal. "A more horizontal brow will provide width and overall balance to a longer face shape," says Benefit's Autumn Estelle.

If you have a heart-shaped face with sharper features, you would benefit from tapered brows, which thin gradually toward the tail and soften angular cheekbones and chins, as seen on Zoë Kravitz. Curved, round brows can also complement a heart-shaped face as they create a softer look.

If you have smaller features, thin brows are your best bet. "The thickness of your brow should be proportional to your face," Estelle says, adding that thin brows work best with smaller eyes and noses and don’t do well with larger, more prominent features.

If your face is round or square, try forming steep arches on your brows, which create the illusion of a longer face. "A higher eyebrow arch is key to extending your facial profile vertically," Marris explains. Square faces also pair well with subtle S-shaped brows, which balance a strong jawline.

Once you've found the perfect brow shape for your face, make sure to keep those brows healthy. Brow artist Jimena Garcia recommends a simple three-step routine: exfoliate the skin under your brows to open follicles, massage the area to stimulate circulation and growth, then condition with a nourishing serum or oil.
